Solar

The large square in the photo represents the area that, if completely covered in concentrated solar collectors, would provide all the power the entire earth uses. The other squares are for Europe and Germany only. Makes you think. Why are we fighting wars over oil and still burning coal?

  1. Germany intends to become totally solar efficient ASAP and close their nuclear plants.

  2. I suspect that solar power will come into its own when the material people figure out how to make roof coverings that last as long as shingles out of solar cells. My barn will be needing a new roof; I'm holding out for another year or two...

  3. Coming through Gila Bend there were some massive solar projects there, they have almost the same amount of sunshine as in northern Africa. There is also a 17 MW solar facility being built here in Yuma. America is serious about energy self suffiency!

  4. because it takes alot of oil to make all those solar panals and support all the people that make them and need to service them and get the power to you.
