My First Oyster Po'Boy Of 2013

My first of the winter! Chris and Juan are driving up from Mexico today and we are all heading over to South Padre Island for a few days on Friday. Norma and I drove the Honda over there yesterday to have a look and found the Andy Bowie County Park that Chris recommended. It is a nice little place, just a short walk to the beach. It has water and electricity but no sewer so we will have to dump before we go over there. No problem, I can easily last a week on my holding tank.

The weather is turning colder as the cold front moves down from the arctic, bringing the cold with it. Dallas, Texas was 80F on Wednesday and 20F on Thursday! It is forecast for 86 here today but will drop to 60 tomorrow! The cold is going to last for a while so we will have to watch closely before we leave the area, there is little point in heading into the cold when we don't have to.

Our son, Brooks, called from Fort McMurray, Alberta last night where he is working outside building forms at -20F. He was raised in Terrace, BC where he was a downhill ski racer so he is used to the cold. It is a good thing. He is working 21 days in and ten days out with the company paying for the flights back and forth. It is hard work but he can make a lot of money up there and living in a camp means he keeps his money.

Stay tuned. Life is going to be a little chillier, but still good!

  2. Oh... I am so jealous! I'd love that po'boy.... even if it's just a bite. Also kinda jealous that you get to visit with Chris and Juan... maybe we'll get the chance to see them again next year.

    1. At least you are stranded where you have access to food (and extra blankets if you need them). This too shall pass!
